Cunnane Town Planning LLP obtained planning permission from the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames for the change of use of a retail shop (Use Class A1) to a financial and professional services use (Use Class A2).  Despite the application becoming increasingly sensitive, with over 100 objections being lodged, Planning Officers supported the proposals and at the Planning Committee meeting the Practice robustly demonstrated that the application site was not within a location where retail uses should be protected.  Having acknowledged that the Council had no planning policy basis upon which to refuse the application, the majority of Members supported the Officer recommendation and accordingly permission was granted.
