Sandycombe Road, Kew

Cunnane Town Planning has won planning permission on appeal for a mixed use development comprising flats and offices on a site in Sandycombe Road, Kew.  The clients approached CTP after a six year battle to obtain permission from the local authority.  After submitting numerous changes to the plans throughout this period the Council finally refused permission in February, seemingly for quite minor reasons concerning the quality of the proposed accommodation and alleged impact on neighbours.  The written representations case presented by CTP demonstrated that the proposals complied with all the necessary standards and relevant policies in the adopted development plan.  The inspector concurred, noting that the proposals represented a sustainable location for new flats and offices.  In addition the need for a Section 106 contribution towards education facilities was rejected, as the Council’s evidence lacked clarity and justification.
