On behalf of a private landowner the Practice has recently obtained planning permission for a development of 14 dwellings on the site of a former social club in West Yorkshire. Working closely with local architects and the local planning authority the scheme provides a well-designed and interesting development that is sympathetic to the environment, site constraints and lifts the general ambience of the area for the benefit of both potential and existing residents. The concept of stepped terraces was used to take account of the natural topography of the site and its surroundings and to take maximum benefit of outstanding views across the countryside from its enviable elevated position. Key to the success of this development and the smooth progress of the planning application was the Practice’s extensive negotiations with the local planning authority from the outset.
